COVID-19 FAQs for parents and students

We will do our best here to answer the questions you may have as it relates to COVID-19 and school.


Is FHUSD providing meal services for students during school closure?

Beginning Wednesday, March 18, free meals will be available for pick up – Fountain Hills High School and Ft. McDowell Rec Center - from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Any students 18 and under will be able to pick up two meals at a time for themselves: lunch for the current day, plus breakfast for the following day. Students must be present in order to receive meals.

Is my student's activity/athletic event/school trip still happening?

No. During the school closure period (currently through March 27, per the mandate from Governor Ducey), all extracurricular activities, events, athletic competitions/practices, and student travel will be canceled.

What happens to the spring sports season?

All competitions, practices, physicals, and other events pertaining to athletics have been canceled through March 28, 2020. This follows our commitment to maintaining the CDC-recommended social distancing practices and also takes into consideration guidelines issued today by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA). We will release more information as soon as it becomes available.

My SAT exam was cancelled. What do I do?

Testing will be impacted by the state-wide closures. If your student was scheduled to take the SAT exam on Saturday, March 14, they should have received information directly from the College Board on a rescheduled date. For more information, visit:

I need to take the ACT. What should I do?

The ACT has rescheduled its April 4, 2020, national test date to June 13, 2020, across the U.S. in response to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). All students registered for the April 4 test date should receive an email from ACT in the next few days informing them of the postponement and instructions for free rescheduling to June 13, or a future national test date.
